Moonburn is the debut album by French singer-songwriter Laura Largillier and German producer Marcus Rossknecht.
Created over several years between Berlin studios, improvised sessions and long conversations about identity, distance and belonging, Moonburn moves effortlessly between electronic music, Latin rhythms, dub, jazz and intimate songwriting. Rather than treating genres as boundaries, the album lets them dissolve into a shared musical language built on rhythm, voice and atmosphere.
Laura’s lyrics move between English, Spanish and French, reflecting a life shaped by movement across cultures. Her voice is both fragile and direct, carrying stories of transformation, vulnerability and resilience. Marcus surrounds these songs with warm analogue electronics, organic percussion, spacious production and an understated sense of groove that draws as much from Afro-Latin traditions and Jamaican dub as from contemporary electronic music.
Instead of chasing perfection, the recordings preserve the feeling of musicians discovering ideas together. Many of the arrangements grew from live improvisation before gradually finding their final form in the studio. The result feels intimate rather than produced, leaving space for breath, silence and emotional ambiguity.
Moonburn is an album about distance. It explores freedom inside limitation, closeness across distance and the quiet transformation that often begins long before it becomes visible. There is melancholy without resignation, movement without urgency and hope without certainty.
For Laura Largillier and Marcus Rossknecht, this collaboration is less the meeting of a singer and a producer than two artists creating a shared musical world—one where songwriting, rhythm and sound design become inseparable parts of the same story.
